News: 2019 Interior & Home Trends

We're big believers about finding your own personal style, especially when it comes to interiors. What works for one person, their home and their lifestyle, may not work for the next. Having said that, we do love a new trend and seeing what exciting new styles are coming to the forefront. So without further ad-do, here are some of our favourite trends for 2019, to embrace or be inspired by...

Beige
When you think of beige, do you think safe and homely, or a tad dull? Whichever camp you fall into, this season beige is the new grey - and it is tipped to be one of the year's key colour trends! There are lots of shades of beige and this season is all about layering, from nudes to warmer neutrals (rather than cooler shades seen previously) such as Dulux Colour of the Year 2019 'Spiced Honey', described as being “perfect for creating a relaxed, cosy atmosphere in places where we like to think, dream, love and act”.

Green(ery)
The darker the better! Think forest green and rich woodland shades; from home accessories and furniture, to walls. Combine with natural materials (such as our handcrafted seagrass storage baskets and natural seagrass light shade) or accents of gold for a bolder look. The use of greenery and indoor plants in the home also continues to be very much 'on-trend' for yet another year. Plants release oxygen whilst absorbing carbon dioxide, which basically cleans and eliminates toxins, improving the quality of the air that we breathe. Surrounding yourself with plants is shown to have many positive effects, from improving concentration and moods, to reducing stress levels. It doesn't matter how small your home is, there's always room for a plant or two, and who doesn't love the idea of creating a little sanctuary away from the stresses, and hustle and bustle of the outside world! And don't forget, you can always cheat and go for some faux greenery, for minimal upkeep and mess!

Black
It's all about black this year; from homeware and lighting, to window frames. Black works with any colour or style scheme. Start small and add an accessory or two, such as our black tall vase and black industrial picture frames, or create a statement with one or more of our industrial vintage old factory pendant lights by Industville. For a more dramatic look, go bold with on-trend all black window frames, from original Crittall windows to painted frames.

Pink
The colour pink certainly seems to be having it's moment in the spotlight! From PANTONE Colour of the Year 2019 'Living Coral' (which symbolises optimism and joyful pursuits) and warm terracotta, to dusky softer shades, last years love of pink looks to continue in varying degrees. For a real impact, combine with different shades of green from emerald to turquoise, or layer stronger pinks and corals with softer shades. New additions to The Den for Autumn/Winter 2018/19 are our dusky rose pink vasemacrame wall hanging in blush pink and triangle tray set.

Textured Walls

From fabric wallpapers such as Anaglypta, to paint effects such as Kalklitir powder paint, which gives an amazing chalky finish, textured walls are huge right now and we just can't get enough!
