Once discovered you’ll quite probably find yourself addicted to Selina Lake’s books! I am a happily self-confessed addict & have been since I fell in love with her utterly irresistible styling in a magazine, looked for any books & from that day on I have had to buy as many as I can.
Why? Well it’s a combination of things … that somehow result in a unique curation of very simple, often inexpensive items that create something magical to look at & live with. She loves nature & being outdoors, enjoys her own garden when she can & has an amazing way with simple things like plants, flowers, wood, paint, cotton or linen fabrics, seeds & seed packets, botanical art, pots, crates, light strings, etc which result in simple but stunning curations of these items on/in shelves, walls, garden or interior rooms, sheds, greenhouses, orangeries, conservatories, tables, crate creations & all sorts of spaces & places. Once she introduces her fabric elements, such as ginghams & florals, she’ll have you hooked!

I can spend hours lost in the places she creates or shares in her books. This particular book is ideal for dozens, possibly hundreds, of ideas for turning your garden into the space you’ve been dreaming about, helping you define & refine all the little details. Once you’ve mastered her style you’ll recognise it in magazines and different online forums, it’s inimitable & unique, she’s a wonderful creative & writer. I can’t recommend her highly enough in print or in person (she’s available for styling events, etc & sounds every bit as delightful as her work!). If for no other reason just take one of her books to bed with you and I guarantee you’ll leave the stress behind and float off to sleep dreaming of beautiful flowers, pink gingham tablecloths, lilac napkins, green candles, hand painted plates, pale pink glasses, yummy cocktails, all outside an exquisite green-painted wooden summerhouse, strung with fairy lights & handmade bunting in pastel shades, under a white lilac tree in full bloom. Sound good …? 💖💖💖
Really pleased with the look of this lamp, but the base is a bit unstable because of the way it is finished and the cord, it’s in a corner so not too bad, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting it somewhere accessible because of small children
